IPL auction 2025: Reshaping team dynamics
Franchise cricket in India, popularly known as The Indian Premier League is one of the most followed leagues in the world. For about a couple of months, spectators are glued to their screens as they diligently follow every match. The quality of cricket played is really high as the best players from different nations compete against one another on a single platform. Moreover, each and every match is theater-like as it is inflicted with drama. The tournament brings a lot of exuberance within people as they come in large numbers to cheer for their favorite team. The course of the game changes quite fast and that is why it’s hard to predict the results.
Apart from all the ‘fun’ side, IPL helps in providing recognition to young players. It provides the right platform and thus creates a stage to showcase one’s talent.
Now, the real question is, how are the teams formed? Since it is not a national team, players from various geographic areas come and play. So, how are they clubbed to form one franchise? The answer is, through auctions.
IPL auctions are held every year and that is when players are bought as they go under the hammer one by one. The team that bids highest for an individual player ultimately buys them for that particular IPL season. The think tank of each team does a lot of homework prior to the auction. They have scouts, which help in filtering the best player at domestic level. Along with that, they also pick the best players from the international circuit who can suit their requirements. For example, if a team is looking for an all rounder, they will do proper research on all the probable players. They will go through the past records, present perform etc. and after that they come to a conclusive decision on whom they want to put their money on.

Will Dhoni play IPL or not?
Indian team’s most successful captain and IPL’s crowd puller MS Dhoni will feature as an uncapped player, provided he plays the next edition. It has been five years since he played his last match at the international level, hence, he will not fall in the bracket of capped players.
Although, he is yet to confirm his availability for the season. Spectators do want to see him, since he is the most iconic keeper, finisher and of course the leader.
