Master of T20 cricket: David Miller
Lefty batsmen are naturally gifted with magnificent bat flow. The way these players time the ball looks very elegant and effortless. It is truly a treat to the eyes. For instance, the cover drives of Kumar Sangakkara or the back foot punches of David Warner. Even their ‘Aadha balla’ shot seems to be a masterpiece. Such is the class these players possess.
Today, in this article by ZAP cricket, we will talk about another such lefty batsman who gave his all to the South African National Team- David Miller.
He is a player vividly known for his explosive batting style and versatility on the field. He made a significant impact in both international cricket and franchise cricket as he played plenty of tournaments in different parts of the world.
David Miller’s domestic cricket and international career
Born on 10 June 1989 (presently 35 years old), Miller made his First class debut in the 2007-08 season. With his exceptional batting skills, he scored plenty of runs in domestic cricket. Great players always capitalise the chances and he was surely one of them. With his consistency, he earned national call when he was 21 years old.
Miller made his T20I debut on 20 May, 2010 vs West Indies, and, two days later, he made his ODI debut on 22 May, 2010 vs West Indies as well. He played only white ball cricket for South Africa and eventually became one of the finest talents of the country.
He is a left handed batsman and a right arm off break bowler. His ability to hit huge sixes is what distincts him from the rest of the players. One can see a lot of elegance in his stroke play. Firstly, he has a range of shots and secondly, he has a naturally strong punch. Apart from his batting, it’s his part time bowling and quick fielding that sets him apart. He is one of the fittest players and that makes him eye-catchy on the field.
He has played a few World Cups for South Africa, but unfortunately he couldn’t lift any trophy for the country. He was in the squad that lost the finals of 2024 ICC T20 World Cup.
