A true all rounder is someone who equally contributes in all the three departments: batting, bowling and fielding. Early life and domestic cricket of Deepti Sharma
Born on 24 August, 1997, Deepti played domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh and Bengal. Her interest in cricket started when she was only 9. She was inspired by her brother Sumit Sharma, who also played cricket. Later, her mentor Hemlata Kala, who is also the national selector, guided her in becoming the player she is now.
International career of Deepti Sharma
Deepti made her ODI debut on 28 November, 2014 vs South Africa, T20I debut on 31 January, 2016 vs Australia and Test debut on 16 June, 2021 vs England. She holds the world record of scoring 320 runs in opening partnership with Poonam Raut. Over the years, her game has evolved to great extents. From being a rookie off spin to becoming a polished reliable senior player, she has come a long way. Overall, she has played 171 international matches across all formats, scoring 2,132 runs and taking 196 wickets.
Her role in the Indian team is quite versatile. She is a reliable option with both bat and ball for which she is highly regarded. Plus, over the years, she has played plenty of matches in different parts of the world, hence, her experience is always an asset for the team.
