The stadium was created specifically for the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup using modular infrastructure. Drop-in pitches were prepared in Florida using technology and expertise linked to Adelaide, then transported to New York.

After its final World Cup match on 12 June 2024, the temporary grandstands and much of the event infrastructure were dismantled as planned. The venue therefore should be understood as a purpose-built tournament project, not a permanent 34,000-seat international stadium.

What actually happened with the Nassau County pitches?

Pre-tournament expectations that the surface would simply play like a flat Adelaide-style pitch proved inaccurate. During the World Cup, the drop-in surfaces produced uneven bounce and difficult batting conditions, and the ICC acknowledged that the pitches had not played as consistently as expected.

That makes Nassau a useful reminder that pitch behaviour cannot be predicted from soil origin alone. Preparation, settling time, weather and match use all matter.

Nassau Cricket Stadium – Seating Capacity and Boundary Length:

The seating capacity of the Nassau Cricket Stadium is planned to be at 34,000 seated spectators through the 40 rows of temporary seats that reach up to 75 feet high. This will make the Nassau Stadium in New York one of the biggest cricket grounds in the USA for the duration of the tournament. 

The Nassau Stadium’s boundary length will follow the ICC’s standards for T20 format, where the boundary length cannot be less than 60 metres (195 feet) or more than 82 metres (270 feet).
